Military
Over the past 14 years, a significant proportion of KASL’s engineering work has been dedicated to military base housing improvements for the US Government. We have been responsible for providing infrastructure design on several air force, army and naval bases throughout North America. The services that we have provided on these projects have included the design and preparation of plans and specifications for grading and drainage improvements, utility plans, sewer and water improvements, and roadways. Representative projects include the following:
 

Military Projects

HICKAM AFB
Housing Privatization Project (Hawaii) -- The Hickam AFB Privatization Project included minor renovations to 540 units and demolition and construction of over 800 new units in both the Capehart and Earhart areas as well as construction of a Community Center facility. The scope of our work included topography/field collection services, utility evaluations, demolition plans, and new road, drainage, sewer and water improvement plans and specifications. Our work included project coordination with both local California based consultants and Hawaiian consultants as well as the Air Base Command, and Hawaiian Lend Lease Actus office staff.


    
LEMOORE Naval Air Force Base
Housing Project (California) -- KASL Consulting Engineers has completed 5 military housing projects for Lemoore Naval Air Station: FY-04 187 Unit Housing Project, FY-03, 178 Unit Housing Project and Community Center, FY-01 160 Unit Housing Project, FY-01 100 Unit Housing Project, and the FY00- 116 Unit Housing Project. The scope of our work included demolition plans, and new road, drainage, sewer and water improvement plans and specifications. Our work included project coordination with architects, other engineering consultants, landscape architects, EFA West, and on base ROICC (Resident Officer In Charge of Construction).


PEARL HARBOR
Housing Project (Hawaii) -- The Pear Harbor FYO1 project included the demolition and construction of new homes in three separate areas: Ford Island (140 Units) Project, Radford Terrace (30-unit project), Hale Moku (Demolition of approximately 30-units). The scope of our work included demolition plans, and new road, drainage, sewer and water improvement plans and specifications. Our work included project coordination with architects, other engineering consultants, landscape architects, and Naval Base Command.


TRAVIS Air Force Base
Housing Project (California) -- The Tavis AFB project included the demolition and construction of a 118-Unit Housing Project. The scope of our work included demolition plans, and new road, drainage, sewer and water improvement plans and specifications. Our work included project coordination with architects, other engineering consultants, landscape architects, Naval command, and on base ROICC (Resident Officer In Charge of Construction).


FORT CAMPBELL
Housing Project (Kentucky) -- The Lee Village Phase 1 project included the demolition of an old housing site and the construction of 128 new Housing Units. The scope of our work included demolition plans, and new roads, drainage (including detention facilities), sewer (including a sewer lift station) and water improvements plans and specifications. Our work included project coordination with architects, other engineering consultants, landscape architects, the Corps of Engineers out of Louisville Kentucky.


FORT
HUACHUCA
Housing Project (Arizona) -- KASL Consulting Engineers has completed two military housing projects for Fort Huachuca: FY-01 Dove Mills and Bonnie Blink revitalization project, and the FY02- 65 unit project. Both projects included the demolition of old housing units and the construction of new military housing tracts. The scope of work includes the preparation of plans, specifications and cost estimates, utility research and coordination with Base Operations and the Savannah and Sacramento Corps of Engineers District Offices.



 

MURPHY CANYON
Housing Project (California) -- The Murphy Canyon revitalization project included renovating approximately 200 existing housing units by: replacing damaged driveways, sidewalk, curb and gutter, installing ramps improving grading and drainage, and utility systems. The scope of our work included preparation of plans and specifications. Our work included project coordination with architects, other engineering consultants, landscape architects, the Navy Base Command.


NELLIS Air Force Base
Housing Project (Nevada) -- The Nellis AFB project included demolition and construction of a 164-Unit Housing Project. The scope of our work included demolition plans, and new road, drainage, sewer and water improvement plans and specifications. Our work included project coordination with architects, other engineering consultants, landscape architects, the Nellis Base Command, the Sacramento District of the Corps of Engineers and the Air Force Air Combat Command.


HOLLOMAN Air Force Base
Housing Project (New Mexico) -- The scope of this project was similar to the Nellis AFB project and included the demolition of an old housing development together with the construction of a new 76-unit housing development. The construction cost of improvements designed by our firm at Holloman was approximately $3,000,000. The project design was conducted with other design professionals, the base operations command and the Albuquerque District of the Corps of Engineers.


LANGLEY Air Force Base
Housing Project (Virginia) -- A 148-unit family housing development, the scope of work for the Langley AFB project included the preparation of demolition plans, road, sewer, water, grading and drainage plans and specifications. Our work was coordinated with the project architect, consulting electrical and mechanical engineers and landscape architect. Civil engineering plans were reviewed with the Langley AFB Staff, the Savannah District of the Corps of Engineers and the Norfolk District of the Corps of Engineers. The estimated construction costs for the civil portion of the project is $3,000,000.


FORT
BRAGG
Housing Project (North Carolina) -- KASL Consulting Engineers are part of the design-construct team that was recently awarded this military project. The Fort Bragg project includes an estimated $4M in road, water, sewer, drainage and utility improvements. This housing development includes the demolition of old housing units and the construction of new military housing tracts. The scope of work includes the preparation of plans, specifications and cost estimates, utility research and coordination with Base Operations and the Savannah and Sacramento Corps of Engineers District Offices.


DAVIS
MONTHAN Air Force Base
Housing Project (Arizona) -- KASL Consulting Engineers completed a 64- Unit Military Housing Project for Davis Monthan Air Force Base (Phase V). The project included the demolition of old housing units and the construction of new military housing tracts. The scope of work includes the preparation of plans, specifications and cost estimates, utility research and coordination with Base Operations and the Albuquerque District Corps of Engineers.
